Are you the Carrot, the Egg or the Coffee Bean?

A son stopped by his dad’s house seeking some solace and sympathy. He said Dad, you just don’t understand how hard it is these days.  Between the economy, family pressures, and money problems, every day is a struggle.

Normally, this dad would say “stop whining and rub some dirt on it!” Today however, he quietly went over to the stove, filled 3 pots with water and brought  them to a boil. In pot #1 he placed carrots, in pot #2 he placed eggs and in pot #3 he placed some coffee beans. For the next 20 minutes he silently listened to the son’s Pity Party, then he went over and turned off the burners.

In 3 different bowls he placed the carrots, the eggs and the coffee. He asked him what do you see? The son smugly replied, “carrots eggs and coffee.” The dad asked him to feel the carrots, the son noticed they were soft.  He asked his son to break an egg, he noticed it was hard boiled. Finally, he asked him to sip a bit of the coffee. The son asked, “what's the point?”

The dad explained “son that boiling water represents life and how tumultuous it can be.  It represents how the heat can be turned up on you, even though it may be totally out of your control. The carrots, the eggs and the coffee beans all faced the same adversity, the same trials but each reacted differently.  The carrots were rough and strong, but when adversity came, they became soft and weak.  The eggs had been fragile, with a thin shell protecting its interior.  When adversity came, they became hardened (closed off, bitter) The coffee beans, when faced with adversity, changed and converted its environment. It utilized the adversity to create something aromatic, beneficial, and energizing.

In the Bible, the Lord himself also utilized water to change an environment, a wicked evil environment and after 40 days and 40 nights of rain and 150 days afloat. Noah’s Ark landed on Mount Ararat. GOD changed and converted the environment and blessed us with a RAINBOW,

Genesis 9:13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth

A RAINBOW representing a PROMISE KEPT, HOPE AFTER THE STORM and GOD’s AMAZING GRACE.

Y’all have a great day and GOD bless you.
