"FORE" or is it "FOUR"

I’m playing golf on a beautiful Saturday when all of a sudden, from behind me I hear a guy yell…“FORE!!!” Universally, we know this is a warning about impending danger, a warning to be alert, a warning to look up. Where did this word “FORE” come from???

In ancient times, golf balls were  expensive, In those days, they had a helper called a FORE-CADDIE. The FORE-CADDIE  went out ahead of the golfers, and when they (the golfers) were about to hit the golf ball, they would yell “FORE.” 

The FORE-CADDIE was being FOREwarned of incoming balls. It was time for him to be alert, time to be aware of impending danger, time to look up. At the end of the day, the FORE-CADDIE was there to make sure all the balls were saved and nothing was lost.

In the Bible, GOD sent out many FORE-CADDIES who FOREtold of the coming of Christ. From Isaiah to Daniel to Micah to Zachariah to King David. Even John the Baptist said in the book of  John 1:27 “He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”
