You got 7 seconds

In 1860, George Eliot famously quipped, "Don't judge a book by its cover “. Multiple studies have revealed that people pass judgement/sum you up in about 7 seconds or less.

I wanna share with you 3 super short stories about a high school kid, a college kid, and a dude from the wilderness.

The college coaches were initially skeptical about this high schooler. They said he might be a "good system player, practice player.” That High schooler became the most decorated athlete in UGA history. A 3X All-American,3X all SEC, all-time sack leader at UGA  (3rd in the NCAA) 2X SEC Player of the Year, SEC Defensive Player of the Year Award. Further accolades include the Bednarik Award, Hendricks Award, Lombardi Award, and the Lott Trophy. In 2005, David Pollack was drafted in the first round by the Cincinnati Bengals. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

The scouting report on this college kid was dismal. It said “poor build, skinny, lacks flexibility, lacks great physical stature and strength.  Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush, doesn’t throw a very tight spiral.  Lacks a really strong arm, can’t drive the ball down field.  A system type player who can get exposed when he is forced to ad-lib and he gets knocked down easy.  Well, in 2000, that skinny kid was drafted into the NFL. He was the 199th pick. Today, Tom Brady owns 7 Super Bowl Rings. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Now there was another guy who didn’t exactly look the part; matter of fact, he was from the Wilderness.

The Bible explains in Matthew 3 that he came preaching in the wilderness, clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. Basically, this dude was eating bees and bugs. Then in Luke 7 it says he came neither eating bread nor drinking wine. However, in Luke 7:28 Jesus said…"among those born of women, there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist.“

1 Samuel 16:7 says, "The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart". Great words to live by. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Y’all have a great day, and GOD bless you.
