Coach Wade's “Who am I” series version 3
US Navy pilot Charles Plum flew 75 combat missions. he was shot down and spent 6 years in a Vietnamese prison. Years later, he was sitting in a restaurant when a man came up and said, ' You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. You were shot down! Plumb asked 'How in the world did you know that?' The man answered… 'I packed your parachute,'
Plumb wondered how many times he had seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because he was a fighter pilot, a man of status on that ship, and that guy was just a sailor.' How many hours had the sailor spent at a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn't know. Quite often in our lives we discover that those who are INVISIBLE may be INVALUABLE!
Matthew 25 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
We are surrounded by servant leaders whose main mission is to emulate Christ while staying anonymous. Just another humble-hearted person packing parachutes for those they serve. They’re out there doing their best so that we can do our best.
Mark 10:45 states: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
So I ask “Who are you?” Are you the Hotshot muckity-muck pilot or the parachute packer who selflessly serves others with meticulous care while doubling your efforts to remain anonymous?
Y’all have a great day, and GOD bless you.
