React or Respond (focus)

Tony loved sports cars and took up Auto Racing as a hobby. At the track, he paid his money and was assigned an instructor. This MAD MAX MANIAC immediately put him in the passenger seat of a race car and took him out on the track. At 140mph, the instructor was still gunning the gas, slamming into turns, skimming the walls, and generally scaring the CRAP out of Tony. Even though the instructor was a highly trained and skilled driver, Tony was REACTING to the situation (fear) while the instructor was RESPONDING to the circumstance. There is a big difference. If your doctor prescribes medicine, do you want your body to have a REACTION or do you want your body to RESPOND?
As Tony was driving for the first time, the instructor hit a special button that sent the car into a spin. Tony saw the wall, focused on it, and headed straight for it; the instructor grabbed Tony’s helmet and forced him to look at the escape route. That refocusing led them away from the wall and into a safe area. When you lose control, focus on the escape route (Christ). Focus on what you need and not what you fear. It takes discipline and practice.
One of the most important driving skills you learn is how NOT TO CRASH (lol). The instructor was there to teach Tony how to re-focus and come out of a spin quickly. It’s a simple strategy, and it applies to life as well. You will always give strength and be drawn to what you focus on.
Isn’t our CHRISTIAN life like that? It’s easy to drive in good conditions, with no obstacles, great roads, and good tires. If the weather and/or conditions change and we’re not prepared, then we start reacting to the schemes of the enemy, instead of responding to the strategies of the Holy Spirit. The same thing happened to Peter:
Matthew 14:29 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
In the same way that the driving instructor grabbed Anthony (Tony) Robbins' helmet and refocused him away from the wall and saved his life, Jesus re-focuses us on the only way to life …eternal life,,,and that is through him.
Y’all have a great day, and GOD bless you.
