Keep your fork

Diagnosed with a terminal illness and given three months to live, the young lady called her Pastor. She wanted to discuss certain aspects of her funeral and her final wishes. She shared with him the scripture she wanted to be read, the songs to be sung, and the dress she would be buried in. She also made sure he understood her most important request. She wanted to be buried with a FORK in her right hand for everyone to see. The Pastor was certainly puzzled by the last request.

The young woman explained. “I grew up in the South, I went to church with my parents and grandparents. We had many Sunday Suppers at the church. In the South, we commonly call it “Dinner on the Grounds”. She said “I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably say, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie, something wonderful, and with substance!“ So, I just want people to see me there, in that casket. with a fork in my hand. I want them to wonder "What's with the fork?" Then I want you to tell them: "Keep your fork .. the best is yet to come.“

Even though her life was coming to an end for her, she wanted people to know that GOD loves them and life is grand. Live it to the fullest, always expecting that something wonderful with substance is coming. What an amazing attitude on life. No matter what curveballs are being thrown at you today, lean on the LORD and believe that the best is yet to come. Life’s beating you down…KEEP YOUR FORK! Your job stinks…KEEP YOUR FORK! Your boss is mean…KEEP YOUR FORK! Issues at home…KEEP YOUR FORK! Medical Issues…KEEP YOUR FORK!, Financial woes…KEEP YOUR FORK! Issue with your spouse…KEEP YOUR FORK! Children driving you crazy…KEEP YOUR FORK! Aging Parents…KEEP YOUR FORK! Just remember it may be hard today but have faith, the best is yet to come.
