Identity Theft

Years ago in San Francisco, the great comedian and silent film actor, Charlie Chaplin stumbled up on a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest…he entered and didn’t even make the finals (lol) Dolly Parton, just for fun, purposely entered a similar contest and got beat out by a Drag Queen (rotfl).

 I want to talk to you today about Identity Theft and its rampant invasion into our lives. Identity Theft can be a real issue, especially when it comes to our Core Christian beliefs. Many folks have succumbed to a “Popularity Based Identity” and even a “Profession Based Identity?” We have to be careful not to let friends, co-workers, family members, society, social media etc. shape an identity that they want us to conform to. We can’t lose our Christian authenticity. 

Quite often we succumb to situational ethics, where our stance on issues is determined by where we are sitting at that particular time. This allows us to live in a gray area of justifications. When you have an instinctive uncertainty regarding company or personal decisions you have to pause and pray…especially if it goes against your Christian Core Beliefs. William Safire said “ Just because you have the right to do something doesn’t make it the right thing to do. “

 What we are truly searching for is our Prophetic Based Identity. An identity that is created in the image and imitation of Christ. An identity that is defined by our connection to God's purpose and calling on our lives. You will rise higher and quicker by standing on your Prophetic Based Identity (your Christ-Centered value system). 

 Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image.

Ephesians 2:10  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do in the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.
