Essential oils

1901, Beaumont, Texas, times were tough.  A rancher was selling off parcels of land to feed his family. One day, an oil company representative knocked on the door.  He said sir, we believe there may be oil on your property. We don’t want to buy it, but if you allow us to drill and we find oil, we will pay you a royalty on every barrel we extract.   The farmer agreed and the drilling began.

As expected, they struck oil.  The strike blew the wooden structure to smithereens. Oil spewed 150 feet in the air, spilling 100,000 barrels. It took 10 days to cap it. Spindletop became the most productive oil rig in US history, and the rancher became an instant millionaire.

Here is my question for you: did he really become an instant millionaire, or was he a millionaire all along?  He owned the land, and the oil had always been there.  He just needed help finding the oil and bringing it to the surface.

As leaders, mentors, or even just friends, what can we do with those around us to help them find their oil and then assist them in bringing it to the surface? In the Bible, St. Paul was a Master Encourager.

He said in Ephesians 4:29, Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Y’all have a great day, and GOD bless you.
