Don't GO through it, Grow Through it.

When we see a Palm Tree we think vacations and R&R, but we know the storms CAN come and ravage the coast line. 

Psalm 92:12 "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon" Meaning resilient, enduring & strong, but it also says they will GROW through the storm.

The Palm Tree has a root system (an anchor). Just under the ground (surface) a a palm tree as small as 12” will have a 2’ rootball and a mesh network of deep and wide REGENERATING roots that serve as a secondary stabilizer. Uprooting a Palm Tree is almost impossible. After a storm passes, the Palm Tree, instinctively and proactively deepens and widens root growth. Basically, it’s preparing for the next storm and actively gets stronger. 

Matthew 13:21 “But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word they quickly fall away.”

Your spiritual roots are the parts of your life that no one might see accept for the LORD …and that OK.

The Palm Tree has an Internal flexibility…it can bend parallel the ground then return to its original position and not break. The Palm Tree is made of a spongy malleable tissue, its not wood. During the Revolutionary war, Ft. Moultrie was built out of Palm logs and when the British fired on the fort the cannon balls harmlessly either embedded or bounced off. Like the Palm Tree , with Christ, you are internally different and capable of shedding lifes cannonballs.  

The Palm Tree is smart…In this world of the IoT….the Palm Tree is also smart. The leaves are flexible and aerodynamic. They soak up sun, grab moisture and provide shade. In a storm, leaves fold up and minimize resistance. You’rer design increases your survivability. 

Lastly, Be Fruitful…Many Palm Trees produce fruit and many do not.  Are you a Palm Tree that just wants to survive the storm or a Palm Tree that wants to produce fruit and help sustain others?  Don’t just GO through it, GROW through it!
