The son of a Deacon and grandson of a Priest, he felt little inclination to serve GOD. Walking along the Wales shoreline, the teenager was kidnapped, taken to Ireland, and sold into slavery. At first, he thought this was his penalty for his lack of commitment to his families faith (GOD is not out to get you Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future). In captivity, for 6 years he prayed as many as 100 times per day. His strength came from a Christ-centered choice, to not be bitter (Attitude is everything). One night, he had a dream, and the Spirit said, “your ship is ready.”
Escaping his captives, he walked 200 miles, and found the very ship from his vision (you may have to walk away from those who enslave you, be brave). The captain would offer passage only if he participated in their pagan custom, but he refused (Daniel 3 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stood firm in their principles and beliefs). He was granted passage anyway (GOD is faithful).
Finally home, he had yet another dream. In the dream, an Irish voice said, “We implore you oh holy boy to come here and be with us”. For the next 20 years he went into ministerial training (mission minded, stay focused, gain knowledge and be patient). When he returned to Ireland he proclaimed, “I was brought here a SLAVE and I return a SERVANT” so stay humble (Proverbs 22:4: "Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life")
Against a paganistic culture, over the next 29 years, St. Patrick would convert 40 of the 50 tribes to Christianity, consecrate 1000 priests, 300 bishops, plant 300 churches and baptize 120,000 (Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,") so have faith, you will be given the strength for the journey.
Y'all have a great day and God bless you.
