Do we need a little Windex for our soul

She looked out the kitchen window at her neighbor’s house as she got her Monday morning coffee.  She shook her head in disgust and said “What a filthy house, it looks like it’s got dirt all over it.” On Tuesday morning, looking out the kitchen window she muttered “even his grass looks brown, it must be dead.”  On Wednesday, still in the same situation, she exclaimed to herself “if he’d pressure wash his driveway, those stains would come clean.”  She’d become so bitter, even mad about the situation, and worried about their property values.  On Thursday morning she’d decided after her coffee, she’d walk across the street and address the issue.  As she routinely looked out the window, she was shocked and pleasantly surprised.

The neighbor’s house had been freshly painted, his driveway was sparkling clean and even his grass was green.  Excitedly, she couldn’t wait to tell her husband.  She finally found him outside cleaning their windows.  He said “I got out early this morning to clean these windows. For some unknown reason, that kitchen window, was the dirtiest one of all.”

Maybe we need a little Windex for our soul? Maybe it’s not them?  Maybe it’s our view?  You see, dirty windows blur our vision (can’t see things clearly or as they really are). Dirty windows don’t allow the sunshine in (the light of the world). Dirty windows can be sealed shut (closed-minded) and not open (open-minded).  Dirty windows keep stale air “IN” and keep fresh air “OUT” (can make everyone in the house sicker) Dirty windows are an outward sign of an inward issue (self-explanatory).

Matthew 7:3-5 "Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" I say an ounce of self-reflection could be worth a pound of humility. Y’all have a great day and GOD bless you.
