Damage increases value, A Golf story.

With Spring time upon us and summer just around the corner…I wanna share with you a story about golf. Let’s roll back the golf clock….it’s 1880, and Americans have fallen in love with the game of golf.  Golf play is increasing, but the sale of golf balls is plummeting??  How could that be? Well, believe it or not, golf balls were originally crafted completely smooth and spherical, meaning round with no imperfections.  As these completely smooth spherical golf balls got used, they began to wear and become damaged.  The golfers noticed that the damaged balls (with grooves, cuts, and nicks) traveled much farther than the smooth, perfectly round balls.  These “IMPERFECTIONS” also gave the golfers greater control which improved their game.  So why were golf ball sales plummeting? Simply put, the experienced, damaged golf balls had a greater value than inexperienced balls.

Most people will be consumed by their “IMPERFECTIONS” and frozen in their failures.  It’s your “IMPERFECTIONS” (life experience) that created who you are.  The grooves, cuts and nicks are your greatest value.  Just like that ole’ golf ball, the grooves, cuts and nicks on your physical being, family, faith, character and soul are what will cause you to rise higher, fly straighter and go farther.  Don’t let anyone count you out, the game is just getting started.  Your scars of suffering will become your stars of significance.
